Professor Matthew Nicholls is a historian specializing in the politics and architecture of ancient Rome. In his Basecamp talk on Massive Model Management, he discussed some of the practical tasks involved in creating a large scale model of the ancient city of Rome. In this session, Professor Nicholls will cover the historical background to his model of Rome, and some of the educational and public uses he has put it to, from classroom teaching to a Massive Open Online Course that has now reached nearly 30,000 people around the world. Professor Nicholls will also address some of the rendering and collaboration platforms that can be used to display highly developed 3D content and collaborate in educational and public-facing contexts.
