The secret powers of Scenes in SketchUp
This course is designed to help students develop a deep understanding of the workflows and efficiencies that are possible by mastering Scenes. On the surface, Scenes are deceptively simple. When used at an advanced level, Scenes can be an incredibly powerful tool for creating compelling presentations and speeding up your work. In this course, we’ll dive into the way SketchUp interpolates between Scenes when calculating transition paths so that you can more accurately predict animation results, learn to manage the relationship between Styles and Scenes (which will detour into a deep dive on SketchUp’s Styles), learn to animate Section Planes, and learn how to create specialty “working” Scenes that can help you get more done, faster.

Extension madness
Curating and deploying extensions into your modeling workflow is almost like strapping Batman’s utility belt onto SketchUp. Just when you need a grappling hook; it’s there. But there are a TON of SketchUp extensions, so where should you start? What kinds of extensions should you definitely be testing out? Justin Geis is a professional extension sommelier, and will be your guide on this taste-test of some of the most powerful extensions out there.

Playing well with others: SketchUp and CAD
Let’s face it: you live in a world where CAD files must import into SketchUp. And sometimes the result isn’t exactly pretty. Working with other people’s CAD files is a reality. In this class, we’ll work on common practices for cleaning up CAD imports, methods for creating SketchUp geometry from CAD linework, and -- perhaps, most important -- how to prep a CAD file before you bring it into SketchUp. And yes, we’ll also cover exporting your SketchUp model in formats such as .DWG, .DXF, .IFC and even .JPG, .PNG, and .PDF. (Yeah, those matter too!)
